It's not Springfield,
It's not St. Louis,
And it's definitely not Chicago...

ANOTHER ILLINOIS

Visions of the American Dream
in the Midwest Margins

IMG_2111_edited.jpg

A forthcoming feature-length documentary & zine that explores the cultures, histories, and everyday extraordinary lives across the land known as Southern Illinois...

Filmed over the course of a year, the film tentatively titled ANOTHER ILLINOIS investigates the definitions of "community" in the muddy margins of the Midwest: Southern Illinois.

Following diverse individuals across the region as they envision their versions of the "American Dream," the film interweaves local histories & cultural observances to pose the following questions for all viewers:

How does history shape our communities?

How do we define our communities?

How do our communities define (or not define) us?

Directed & produced by Logan Whorton, ANOTHER ILLINOIS is the first major project sponsored by Logworks, an Illinois 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by Logan for the support of artists & their valued communities. Collaborating with artist Wesley Barnes, we plan to release the film in the physical format of a zine featuring a DVD of the film, additional histories, regional ephemera from production, and director's commentary.

Our goal is finish the project by the end of 2024, but we are currently looking for donations & potentially sponsorships to push the film past this post-production finish line, submit to film festivals, and host screenings with communal discussions about themes in the film.
